On July 9, 2020, Mirosław Rowicki, the founder and editor-in-chief of „Kurier Galicyjski” passed away.

Mirosław Rowicki was the initiator and chairman of the Galician Club – an organization of Polish and Ukrainian journalists, scientists, academics as well as local government activists. He was actively involved in the joint initiative of the Uniwersity of Warsaw and Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University- the reconstruction of the former Polish astronomical observatory and the construction of the Polish and Ukrainian Academic Youth Center.
Mirosław Rowicki received both Polish and Ukrainian state awards for his activities.
