On Sunday, October 15, 2017, in Kiev, the opening ceremony of John Paul the 2nd street was held. The ceremony was accompanied by the unveiling of the mural dedicated to the pope. Among the participants of the ceremony were Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Piekło, Director of the Centre for East European Studies Jan Malicki, Vatican`s Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, Sviatoslav Shevchuk.
