Dr. Adam Eberhardt

Deputy Director of the Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw (SEW UW).

Dr. Adam Eberhardt holds a PhD in political science and is a recognized expert in international affairs. His research interests include Polish foreign policy, regional cooperation in Central Europe, the European Neighborhood Policy, international relations in the post-Soviet space, and the foreign and domestic policies of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

He is also co-chair of the Polish-Czech Forum, which was founded by the Foreign Ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic, and a member of the Polish President’s Foreign Policy College. Previously, from 2020 to 2024, he served as the Polish Prime Minister’s Plenipotentiary to Support Reforms in the Rep. of Moldova.

Dr. Eberhardt has been Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) expert on the human dimension mechanism for the period from 2023 to 2029. He was also an advisor to the President of Ukraine in the Working Group on International Security Guarantees for Ukraine in 2022.

Earlier in his career, he was Director of the Center for Eastern Studies (OSW) in Warsaw from 2016 to 2022. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director of the OSW for eight years, from 2008 to 2016. Dr. Eberhardt was also Head of Research and Senior Fellow at the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) from 2002 to 2008 and Chief Correspondent of the Polish News Agency PAP in Moscow from 2001 to 2002. In addition, he was Vice President of the Warsaw Enterprise Institute and Director of the WEI Center for Strategic Studies from 2022 to 2024.

Dr. Eberhardt’s commitment to education is reflected in his previous work as a lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy, which trains young Polish diplomats. He has also been a guest lecturer at universities and think tanks in Europe, America and Asia. He is also a member of the editorial board of the “Polish Diplomatic Review”

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Eberhardt was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the President of Poland in 2015.
