Call for papers Historical commonwealth of Four Nations – the Legacy of the Idea, and Future Prospects

The international congress „Historical commonwealth of Four Nations – the Legacy of the Idea, and Future Prospects” will be held in Warsaw on September 13-16, 2024.

More than 200 historians from different countries will take part in the event.

GENERAL TOPICS OF THE CONFERENCE

• Liberation movements and national states
• Topography of interethnic conflicts in Eastern and Central Europe
• Anti-Semitism and Philo-Semitism in Eastern and Central Europe (phenomenology and conflictology)
• Eastern European multiculturalism in the face of the „Russian problem” (on overcoming imperial and totalitarian practices of ‚racism‘)
• Dream of the Commonwealth Triangle: its Legacy & Today’s Approach
• Decolonising culture: historical contexts, societal values, heritage protection, dismantling propaganda
• Culture of change or cultural change: the world under pressure from Russian armed and information aggression
• War through the eyes of a historian at the frontline
• Religion, society and politics. Imperialism and the Church (waiting for the title)
• Historians-IDPs: life and professional challenges (to be specified)
• The economics of Eastern Europe: on the threshold of new challenges

THE PAPER PROPOSALS, full papers and their abstracts must be written in English.

PANEL PROPOSAL

We are ready to consider other subjects of presentation broadly reflecting the main theme of the Conference. Panels may be proposed under these conditions:

1.  The theme of the panel has to reflect the main theme of the Conference,
2. The applicant proposing the panel must guarantee 4 – 7 participants,
3. The applicant or one of the participants has to be the Chair of the proposed panel;
4. Furthermore, if the conditions are fulfilled, a discussant can also be assigned to the panel.
5. Proposals are to be submitted directly to the Secretary of Programme Board at kongres.studium@uw.edu.pl

LOCATION THE CONFERENCE will be held in Uniwersity of Warsaw.

SCHEDULE THE CONFERENCE will begin on Friday, September 13 at 11 AM, and end on Monday, September 16 at 2 PM, 2023. Further information concerning chedules will be delivered to registered participants by email.
